Project location: Portsmouth, NH
Chris and Janet were the first owners in their Portsmouth waterfront building and bought their condo new in 2023. The original kitchen blocked the light and the water views, and a standard doorway shut the dining room off from it, but they wanted a warm, modern place to host their kids and grandkids for years to come.
Mari Woods designed the kitchen, we built it, and Chris and Janet followed the work from Florida all winter.

Mari Woods, the designer chosen for this project, drew both the kitchen and the primary bath, and brought us in to build them.
Mari’s plans gave Chris and Janet a kitchen with an angled counter that seats six, a galley workstation built for two, and the ovens, refrigerator, and wine fridge built into the cabinetry wall.
In the primary bath, she drew a walk-in shower with a bench, a low threshold, and handle bars, along with a freestanding tub and a floating vanity.
Double ovens are built into the cabinetry, so the cooking wall stays clean and in line with the rest of the kitchen.
Bar seating gives guests a place to gather with the cook while the kitchen and dining room still read as one open space.
A large walk-in shower with handle bars makes the bathroom easy to use for the years ahead, and it still reads as a design choice.
Recessed lights, ambient light tucked into the crown molding, and lights under the cabinets each sit on their own control, so the center of the room can run bright while everything else stays soft.
A full cutting board area slides away when the prep is done, easy to reach and easy to clean.
Tucked in with the rest of the hidden appliances, because Chris and Janet are big into wine.
A concealed ice maker pulls out like a drawer on the freestanding island.
The old standard doorway now runs the full width of the wall, so the cook and the guests stay in the same room.
The living room ceilings Chris and Janet loved now carry through the kitchen, dining room, and primary bedroom.
A fully integrated Lutron system runs the lighting, motorized shades, whole-home audio, and security, with one-touch scenes for Goodnight, Entertain, Movie, Away, and Morning.
Touch-open cabinets fold up to reveal a Sub-Zero, the microwave, a trash pull, and a coffee station, and the outlets are hidden too, so the counters stay clear.
A jetted soaking tub sized for easy entry, a step-free shower, and strategically placed handle bars that make this a safe place for self-care.
Let's walk through your vision, your space, and the details that matter most to you.
