Remodeling and Additions for Kingston Homes
Kingston is a town of quiet roads and single-family homes, with Great Pond close to its center. Many of its houses went up in the 1980s, and some are far older than that.
Those 1980s houses are close to forty years old. The kitchen is too small for the way you cook, a bath has not changed since the house went up, or the kids need rooms of their own.
Who is behind your Kingston remodel
Persson Construction is a remodeler based in Greenland, about 14 miles from Kingston. The plans come from a local designer we partner with, and we meet with you and the designer together.
We plan first, price second, and build third, so the big questions about your house come up while the plan can still change.
How your Kingston remodel takes shape
First comes a fit call about your house, how you live in it, your budget, and when you hope to start. After that, Chris visits to look at the house as it is today.
If the fit is right, we plan the work under a Project Development Agreement. Most jobs get one to three trade days during this phase.
Each time, usually one or two subcontractors walk your home and price their share of the work. That pricing builds your construction proposal.
Once building begins, we work on Cost Plus: you pay actual material and subcontractor costs, plus a markup.
Projects we take on in Kingston
A 1980s Kingston house with a dated kitchen, tired baths, and old windows is a good match for whole-home remodeling, since we can plan all of it at once. When the house is simply too small, look at home additions. The town’s oldest houses call for historic renovations, where we learn the frame and trim before changing them.
We also take on kitchen remodeling and bathroom remodeling as projects of their own. Book a fit call, and bring your list of what the house needs.
Our Kingston Remodeling & Historic Renovations Services
Kitchen Remodeling
We remodel kitchens in the room you have, or add on when the room is too small. We plan each kitchen with the designer, then price it and build it.
Bathroom Remodeling
Primary baths, plus showers with a low curb or no curb at all. We also swap old Jacuzzi tubs for bigger showers.
Whole Home Remodeling
Two or more rooms done as one job, such as a kitchen and a bath. We plan and price the whole job before the build starts.
Home Additions
First-floor primary suites, bump-outs, and great rooms. We also build ADUs, like an apartment over a detached garage.
Historic Renovations
In a historic district, window sizes, siding, and trim come with rules we plan around. Many old houses outside the district need a lot of work too.

Kingston, Then and Now
Kingston began as part of Hampton and became a town on August 6, 1694, under the name Kingstown. Josiah Bartlett, a doctor who signed the Declaration of Independence, lived here, and his house in town is now a National Historic Landmark.
Kingston State Park covers 44 acres on Great Pond, with a beach, picnic areas, a boat ramp, and walking trails.
Today about 6,200 people live in Kingston, on about 20 square miles of land. Census data counts about 2,800 homes, most of them single-family houses, and about four in five are lived in by their owners.
The typical house was built in 1982, and more homes went up in the 1980s than in any other decade. About one in eight is older than 1940.
Our Greenland office is about 14 miles northeast of Kingston. Kingston’s neighbors include Brentwood and Exeter, and we serve both of those towns too.
Kingston Remodeling & Historic Renovations FAQs
I live near Great Pond in Kingston. What state rules affect my remodel?
Great Pond covers more than 200 acres, and land within 250 feet of a pond larger than 10 acres falls under New Hampshire’s protected shoreland rules.
Inside that strip, the state regulates building, fill, digging, and tree cutting, and many projects need a shoreland permit. We check your house against that line first, so the design starts inside the state’s rules.
My Kingston house was built before 1940. What should we look at first?
Start with the house as it stands, from the frame and the wiring to the trim. Chris visits to see it before the plan is drawn. What is original and what has been changed both shape the plan and the price.
If the house is in one of Kingston’s historic district zones, the town’s Historic District Commission is the board that oversees it. See our historic renovations page for how that work runs.
My 1980s Kingston house feels tight. Should I add on or rework the floor plan?
It depends on how your rooms are used now. Sometimes taking out a wall or two gives back enough space and keeps the work inside the house you have.
If you truly need more square feet, an addition makes sense. We plan it with the designer so it ties into the kitchen and halls you already use. The zoning rules an addition has to meet are on the town’s Ordinances, Rules and Regulations page.
