Remodeling and Additions for Lee Homes
In Lee, Amber and Ben first hired us in 2018 for a home addition. Later they worked with us to design a new garage with an apartment and an office above it, and then we built it.
Lee is woods, fields, and back roads, with the Lamprey River winding through. Many of its houses went up in the 1980s. What their owners need is a house that does more: a home office, a room for a parent, or a kitchen that fits the family.
The company behind your Lee project
We are Persson Construction, a remodeler about 11 miles east in Greenland. We focus on higher-end renovations, additions, and whole-home remodels across the Seacoast.
Our order never changes: we plan the work, we price the work, and then we build it.
How a Lee project takes shape
We begin with a fit call about your property, your goals, your budget, and your timing. Then Chris walks the site to see what is there now.
Planning happens under a Project Development Agreement, or PDA. A PDA gets specific about the finishes you pick, which makes the pricing more accurate.
On trade days, the subcontractors who will build the job walk your property and price their part. Their numbers feed the construction proposal. The build runs on Cost Plus, with open books.
What we build for Lee homeowners
Our home additions can mean new space attached to the house or a building of its own in the yard. Next door in Barrington, we built a year-round indoor pool house apart from the main house. A 1980s house where the kitchen, baths, and windows all come due at once is a good fit for whole-home remodeling.
For an older Colonial or cape, our historic renovations start with a visit to look at the frame, and the plan is drawn around what we find. We also do kitchen remodeling and bathroom remodeling. Book a fit call and tell us what your land and house need to do.
Our Lee Remodeling & Historic Renovations Services
Kitchen Remodeling
We remodel kitchens in the room you have, or add on when the room is too small. We plan each kitchen with the designer, then price it and build it.
Bathroom Remodeling
Primary baths, plus showers with a low curb or no curb at all. We also swap old Jacuzzi tubs for bigger showers.
Whole Home Remodeling
Two or more rooms done as one job, such as a kitchen and a bath. We plan and price the whole job before the build starts.
Home Additions
First-floor primary suites, bump-outs, and great rooms. We also build ADUs, like an apartment over a detached garage.
Historic Renovations
In a historic district, window sizes, siding, and trim come with rules we plan around. Many old houses outside the district need a lot of work too.

Lee, Then and Now
Lee was first settled in 1657 as part of the old Dover township. It later belonged to Durham, and on January 16, 1766, it became a town of its own. The Lamprey River flows east through Lee toward Durham and Newmarket, and the North River and the Oyster River drain parts of town too.
Today about 4,500 people live in Lee, on about 20 square miles in Strafford County. About 95 percent of homes are lived in by their owners. The typical Lee home was built in 1985, and about one in four went up in the 1980s.
Our Greenland office is about 11 miles east of Lee. Lee’s neighbors include Barrington, Durham, Epping, Newmarket, and Nottingham, and we serve all five.
Lee Remodeling & Historic Renovations FAQs
Can I build an apartment over a garage in Lee?
Often, yes. New Hampshire’s ADU law, RSA 674:72, lets you add one accessory dwelling unit, or ADU, to a single-family home as a matter of right.
The unit can be attached or detached. Unless the town allows more, the ADU’s living space tops out at 950 square feet. For an example, see the ADU and garage build we finished for Amber and Ben.
Lee’s building department reviews the plans. Lee’s 2026 Zoning Ordinance has its own section on accessory dwelling units, and we check the design against it during planning. If your home runs on a well and septic system, the law also asks you to show enough water and septic capacity for the new unit.
The town’s zoning and overlay map shows which district your lot is in.
When can a garage and ADU project in Lee get started?
Winter here usually shuts down digging and foundation work by Christmas, so a new garage’s foundation has to go in before then, or it waits for spring. The size of the building and the site play a part too.
How does Cost Plus pricing work on a Lee remodel?
You pay the actual cost of materials and subcontractors, plus our markup. The books stay open, so you can see where the money goes. Work outside the agreed scope goes through a change order.
